By developing a forward-looking innovation procurement strategy and considering alternative competing solutions, contracting authorities can drive innovation from the demand side to meet short term as well as medium to long term needs. A well-designed innovation procurement strategy will reduce the risk of low- or non-performance of the purchased innovations by providing a step-by-step approach from solution design, prototyping, and development to development and product testing.<\/p><h2 class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><br \/>Merged definitions<\/h2><p>Innovation procurement refers to a public procurement which creates opportunities for companies to develop new markets and new solutions. Considering the alternative options, contracting authorities can drive innovation from the demand side to meet the needs of the organization efficiently and productively.<\/p><h2 class=\"has-medium-font-size\"><br \/>Discussion<\/h2><p>It could be the part of sustainable and green procurement because its not a new innovation rather it contributes to reducing the environmental impact as well as increase the value for money. So i think its better to put it in the sustainable and green procurement category.
