Why was an innovative solution considered?
After setting a goal to become carbon neutral by 2025, Copenhagen is now changing the way it manages energy. A key requirement to achieve this goal is a significant reduction in energy consumption from street lighting. For this purpose, it was necessary to replace almost 20,000 street lamps.

What was done differently?
The public contracting authority chose the competitive dialogue procedure. The evaluation criteria were balanced: 25% price, 25% organization and execution of the task, 20% lighting solutions, 30% energy and environmental properties. The process took 16 months until the contract was signed.
What was the result?
By switching to LED lamps, energy consumption was reduced by 57%, and at the same time, the carbon footprint and maintenance costs were reduced (1.6 million EUR per year for an investment of 26 million EUR).
